Driver Spotlight

“STS is a great company. They always do what they say they will do” and they have an environment with a strong “family feel.”

This is what Doug Krupla, a regional OTR driver based out of Smyrna, TN, said when he was asked what he likes most about working for Specialized Transportation Services.

What is important to Doug in his professional driving career…

Being cautious, focused on safety, caring about the company and the customers, being part of a team, making smart decisions by applying common sense in all situations.

Before pursuing a professional trucking career…

Doug was owner of a successful small business in Tennessee called Duggers Food & Fun. He grew up in Ohio and later moved to Arizona where he met his wife, Karen. The two have been happily married 28 years and have proudly raised three boys into respectful young men.

What Doug loves to do (aside from driving a truck for STS)…

During his home time, Doug enjoys cooking, watching football, riding his motorcycle, building model airplane or watching another rerun of Shawshank Redemption.

Driver Spotlight

“You could not find a better company to work for than STS. I am working for the best company in the area.”

That is what Bob Chism shared when asked why he chooses to work for Specialized Transportation Services. Bob, who has been a professional truck driver for over 12 years, is one of STS’ OTR drivers based out of Mississippi.

Values and qualities which are important to Bob…

Good communication, honesty, integrity, responsibility, being productive, having a respect for others and a strong, traditional work ethic.

Additionally, Bob prides himself on being…

Problem-free and requiring little or no supervision. He tries to handle problems and issues before having to involve anyone else.

Before Bob started his professional trucking career…

He served his country proudly as a 4 year member of the Army as a Combat Engineer. Not only did Bob grow up in Detroit but he worked for and retired from the Detroit Police force. With his graduating from Bethany Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in theology, being an ordained minister and a former missionary, it makes sense that Bob’s nickname is “The Preacher.”

When Bob is not on the road…

He is spending time with his wife, Janet, of almost 35 years. Together they raised four children and have 6 grandchildren and one more on the way. In addition to time with family, in his free time Bob loves camping, fishing or hunting.
