Fleet Manager Job Opening

Purpose:
As a fleet manager at STS, you fill a vital role in our front line operations. Your active participation in the daily operations is essential to the success of our organization as a whole. The most important trait that an applicant must possess is to enjoy leading a fleet of truck drivers as a single team. A fleet manager must set objectives for their team of drivers and then work hand in hand with the fleet to facilitate meeting those objectives. Please bear in mind that each fleet manager is expected to perform the following duties as part of his or her job functions:

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyze driver’s mileages and payroll to ensure all drivers are working a full work week in addition to identifying drivers who aren’t earning enough money.
• Validate and review drivers hours of service to ensure compliance using all tools available including Peoplenet and McLeod software
• Address and be involved in all safety related issues regarding the driver including annual reviews, log violations, in addition to monitoring compliance on DOT hours of service, annual physicals, and paperwork compliance
• Constantly work closely with your drivers to coach, train, and develop them
• Develop a level of trust and respect between yourself and your drivers
• Relationship building is a key to your success as a fleet manager
• Always keep in mind, you ultimately control the driver’s pay; this task should not be taken lightly
• Act as a liaison between the driver and customers regarding any problems with shipment delays, damages, missed appointments, directions, etc
• Perform regular, thorough fleet scans to proactively catch and correct issues
• Ensure a high level of on-time service is maintained
• May be required to perform duties outside of the above responsibilities from time to time, as needed

Position Requirements:
**Interested candidates MUST come from the transportation and trucking industry. This position does have room for growth and advancement.**
• Ability to build and maintain relationships
• Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to manage and motivate a team
• Customer service oriented
• Ability to manage a fleet of 35-45 drivers
• Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Office), organization and administrative skills
• Knowledge of Tom McLeod software a plus
• Must be able to type and function on multiple software packages with speed
